Dakota Johnson didn’t comment on her recent split from Chris Martin during her appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” on Thursday.
Instead, she chatted with the host about her latest project, “The Materialist,” directed by Serin Song. Johnson shared her enthusiasm for seeing “The Past Life,” which received an Oscar nomination, describing the upcoming film playfully as a “Romdramite.”
This interview came just a day after news broke that she and the Coldplay frontman had officially ended their relationship after nearly eight years together.
According to an insider, “I feel this time in the end,” which was revealed in a report.
Before the show, Johnson was spotted leaving the Greenwich Hotel in New York City.
The 35-year-old actress and the 48-year-old musician began dating in 2017, and after multiple ups and downs over the years, they have decided to part ways.
The couple shared a home in Malibu. Their last photograph together was taken in May. Earlier this year, they were seen holding hands in India, just a few months after rumors surfaced about a potential engagement split.
At one point, Johnson had denied speculation of their breakup, insisting “the report is not true,” and claimed they were happy together.
Later that month, she was seen wearing a striking emerald ring while dining out with friends in Malibu.
In March, sources confirmed that the couple had been engaged for some time but had opted to keep their relationship largely private.
Martin bought a ring for Johnson, but she didn’t wear it regularly. According to a source, “They don’t rush to plan their wedding; they just enjoy making their commitments official.”
Johnson, whose parents are the iconic Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, rarely discussed her relationship. However, in March, she expressed her joy in watching Martin perform.
“I love seeing him,” she shared. “I could see him every day. I don’t know how to explain it. I just enjoy seeing him do what he loves most.”
She also has a positive relationship with Martin’s children, Ringo and Moses, whom he shares with ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow. “I love how kids like my life depend on it,” Dakota said, reflecting her heartfelt connection with them.
