Dallas Cowboys fans make harsh remarks about the tight end’s wife following a rough game, Dak memes, and Jerry’s anger

Haley Cavinder enjoys her bikini honeymoon in the Bahamas, while Giusy Meloni shares updates on soccer and theme parks.

Welcome to Screencaps, a daily column that mixes sports, pop culture, and reader emails from around the globe. This is a space for everyone—not just the coastal crowd. We’re hoping to win you over in a week. Our track record speaks for itself. Let’s dive in.

How are you feeling this morning, Cowboys fans?

Last night’s drama was something else. Jerry Jones, at 83, slammed his hand on a table as the Cowboys faced an embarrassing loss to the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I have to admit, there was a part of me that felt a bit sorry for Jerry—especially after his earlier comments about being a “dangerous old man with money to burn.”

But maybe he should consider spending some of that cash on better coaching? The Buccaneers rushed for 241 yards last night. Now, that’s not entirely the defensive coordinator’s fault, but the Fort Worth Star-Telegram went with the headline “In humiliating defeat, Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator looks overwhelmed.”

Yikes. Not a great look, Jerry.

The coordinator in question is Christian Parker, just 34 years old, and his defense got torched by a quarterback who wasn’t even drafted. Oh, and the Cowboys were favored by 9.5 points. Kind of a tough pill to swallow.

While Jerry was making a scene, fans took to social media to vent their frustrations, targeting tight end Jake Ferguson’s wife, influencer Haley Cavinder, who wore “Kiss my Dallas” pants to the game. One furious fan suggested via Instagram that she should get a divorce before it’s too late, while another urged Ferguson to “catch the DAMN BALL.”

(I hope this Instagram embed shows up! I promise that’s what her pants say.)

Then there’s more mockery directed at Haley. One commenter quipped about Ferguson’s eating habits, while another suggested he might need some extra hand wipes after a pass bounced off his helmet—resulting in an interception by Tampa.

And it just spiraled from there. “Maybe throw in some extra wipes for all that butter on his fingers… incredible,” a guy named Randy remarked.

More observations from last night’s game:

JERRY JONES HAS NO ‘SUCCESSION PLAN’ FOR COWBOYS LEADERSHIP: ‘JUST WON’T BE HERE TO TOSS MY TWO CENTS IN’

  1. It’s unclear how long Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit can keep their commentary duo together. Their chemistry felt off, especially when Al wanted to discuss the Bucs passing up a field goal, and Kirk started talking about the Cowboys’ decision to go for two after a touchdown. Al, at 81, just sat there, not bothering to follow up.
  2. I hate to say it, but the recent Indians-White Sox game had more excitement than the football matchup. I even muted the Amazon broadcast to listen to baseball commentary, and frankly, I couldn’t care less about either team. The Thursday Night Football experience was just stale.
  3. Speaking of stale, is it just me or do you have to be a bit nuts to watch TNF’s halftime show? What’s the appeal of Richard Sherman? I feel like I’m missing something.
  4. On another note, it was refreshing to see teams actually string together hits during a recent baseball game. 18 hits combined! Balls were flying everywhere. Is it too much to ask my Reds to get players who can actually connect with the ball? You know, like how baseball was played for decades before stats nerds took over.

At this point, you might as well turn out the lights on Hooters

In September, I thought Hooters might hold on. They announced a 2027 bikini calendar, which seemed like a good sign. But then I heard from a Screencaps reader that the Daytona International Speedway location is now permanently closed. They even removed it from their website.

This comes right after Jacksonville lost its last store. If a Hooters can’t thrive in an iconic racing spot, what does that say for the brand? I’m not sure Clearwater, where it all started, will keep it afloat either.

Can Hooters turn things around? Not looking good.

The state of deliveries in 2026

– Ryan in Oklahoma is frustrated: Not quite five figures, but I had a pallet of ammo mistakenly delivered to my apartment two days early, and I wasn’t home. It was obviously ammo, packed in OD green cases. I’m surprised nobody took it, or that the ATF didn’t come after me.

We really need to discuss the delivery experience these days. For my construction sites, I craft a detailed document that includes the address, site contact, a map, and a grid, yet drivers still can’t figure it out. Yes, some have language barriers, but even those who speak English can be really clueless. It’s like we’re living in a comedy that’s gone wrong.

Anyway, I hope you all have a better weekend than I’m expecting—still annoyed about everything. Cowboys continue to disappoint.

Kinsey: My dad’s current gig is delivering equipment, and he’s probably one of the last decent delivery guys out there. Ryan, he’d fit in perfectly!

– Doug in Texas has an important financial decision: I enjoyed your post about the $28K delivery. My previous firm sold last year, and now I’m stuck with a nearly $500K balance in my 401K. The payroll company won’t do a direct transfer; they insist on mailing me a check to pass on to the new 401K sponsor. So now I have to trust USPS to handle this check. Color me anxious.

The wild Georgia cross country story

– Darren in McDonough writes: This bizarre incident occurred at a cross country meet in Newnan, my wife’s hometown. You never really know what might happen these days.

TOO DAMN SOON!

– Beer Guy Thomas V. in NC checks in: Home Depot has officially made my boycott list after running a Christmas ad on the radio.

Kinsey: Full disclosure—I have a guest this weekend going on a girls’ trip to a town famous for its Christmas store. The timing feels way off to me—she hasn’t even decorated for fall yet!

Dodgers fan looking ahead to NLCS

– Paul from SoDak says: Good evening, Joe. I want to apologize for my last email. Hating on Team Moms right after a long day and personal issues wasn’t my best moment. But I still won’t watch again, yet I cherish playoff baseball and football.

Thank you for sharing my post about my dad passing earlier this year. He loved the Dodgers, as did his father, making me a fan too. I know many don’t want the Dodgers to win again due to payroll issues, but watching the game reminds me of great memories with him. Sports really connect us. Keep enjoying it, Joe; your writing means a lot!

I’ll wear my Hershiser jersey to work tomorrow just to poke fun at my Yankees fan friend. Good times ahead.

Who are the most obnoxious fans in college football?

– Nick S. asks: Who do you think has the most annoying college sports fanbase? I’d say Pitt. They haven’t won a championship in 50 years, but you wouldn’t know it from their attitude.

Kinsey: That’s an easy one, Nick. Michigan fans take the cake. Their success mainly came when Harbaugh used questionable tactics. Now they have to live with penalties and scandal, and they have a lot to answer for.

Well, that wraps it up for this week. It was nice to see the emails come in stronger as the week went on. It felt a bit quiet for a while. For those in the path of bad weather, be careful out there. And for the rest of us enjoying great weather, let’s have some fun!

Have a great weekend.
