Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport plans to add Islamic footwashing stations in its restrooms, as reported by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
This initiative was officially registered with state regulators on July 31, according to the project documentation.
The construction of the Wudu ablution center is anticipated to finish by year’s end.
Details indicate that the project involves adding restrooms at the concourse level of Terminal D—specifically, one additional men’s restroom next to the current one, and a similar addition for women.
This upgrade is being funded privately and is estimated to cost around $300,000, as per official documents.
An important goal of this update is to prevent water from accumulating on the restroom floors and to protect the sink areas.
Similar facilities have been implemented at other major international airports in the U.S., including Chicago’s O’Hare.
Some conservatives expressed outrage online regarding the plan, while others advocated for a more rational perspective, emphasizing that the new facility won’t enforce any particular ideology.
Ryan Fournier, a conservative activist, commented on social media, urging people to focus on the facts. He suggested that this is a matter of effective airport management rather than ideological enforcement.
He pointed out, “Washing feet in a regular sink can lead to wet floors and damaged countertops. A low-mounted wudu sink keeps the toilet area dry and safe for everyone.”
Further, he noted that DFW is a significant global travel hub and that installations like these have been in place at prominent U.S. airports for years, facilitating international passenger needs.
Fournier concluded by stating that the main intent behind this addition is to maintain cleanliness in the bathrooms and prevent accidents from slippery floors.
