Pastor Critiques Political Stance on Abortion

In a recent discussion, Texas pastor Dwight McKissick voiced his criticism regarding the actions of political figures, particularly highlighting that “God can take a straight lick with a crooked stick.” He argued that Democrats have, in fact, contributed to a reduction in abortions more than Republicans have.

McKissick expressed his belief that the divine plan operates beyond human understanding. He emphasized that, within a democratic framework, simply voting for candidates like Donald Trump won’t necessarily save lives. He pointed out that abortion rates decreased during Democratic presidencies and rose when Republicans took office. “God is showcasing His concern for life in its entirety—not just pro-birth,” he stated, suggesting that God works in mysterious ways.

BlazeTV Host Jason Whitlock, however, disagrees with McKissick’s perspective. He referred to McKissick as a religious leader aligned with the Democratic agenda, which he finds troubling.

Whitlock elaborated on McKissick’s views, stating, “Even amidst accessible family planning and abortion services, this argument implies divine support for the continued termination of pregnancies.” He recalled similar sentiments shared by others, like Roland Martin, who suggested that Democrats embody a more comprehensive pro-life stance since they focus on all aspects of life.

Whitlock continued to critique McKissick, pointing out that despite calling himself a pastor, he seems to prioritize a political agenda over spiritual teachings. This shift, according to Whitlock, is concerning and indicative of a broader issue within many black churches. He believes some leaders are misguiding their congregations away from faith and towards political ideologies.
