The Cowboys may have some surprising names in their backfield.
Former Jets running back Dalvin Cook will visit Dallas on Monday. According to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero:
“Unlike a year ago when he was rehabbing from shoulder surgery, Cook has been working out with weights all offseason and says he feels the best he’s felt in years,” Pelissero added.
Cook’s time with the Jets last season appeared to be all but over.
Cook, 29, appeared in 15 games for the Jets last season, carrying the ball 67 times for 214 yards but just 3.2 yards per carry and no touchdowns.
Still, in the workout video posted by Pelissero, he looks to be in phenomenal shape and isn’t even just over 30 years old.
The Jets’ offense was generally disastrous after starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers went down with a torn Achilles on just the fourth play of the season against the Bills, with Zach Wilson playing under center after that.
Cook was selected to the Pro Bowl four consecutive years as a member of the Vikings from 2019-2022.
The Cowboys also brought back running back Ezekiel Elliott this offseason, who spent last year with New England.
Elliott had 3.5 yards per carry and three touchdowns last season.
Other running backs on the Cowboys’ roster include Rico Dowdle and Royce Freeman.

Tony Pollard, the team’s starting running back last year, signed a free agent contract with the Titans this offseason.
