Former Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn takes pride in telling the truth.
But come January 6th, he and the truth often seem to be at odds.
That's the strong argument made in Blaze Media's new video production, “A Day in the Life of Harry Dunn: Part 1 — A Leisurely Pace.” Blaze TV And social media.
This video documents some of the stories told by some of the most famous police officers on January 6th and reveals what really happened.
Blaze News investigative reporter Steve Baker, who reported and narrated the piece, describes the carefully crafted story Dunn told in Congress, on his network talk show, and in his bestselling book. He said that it is nothing but fiction.
“Everything he did to establish his reputation was done deceptively,” Baker said in a dramatic reenactment of Dunn's press conference at the Capitol in the early morning hours of Jan. 6. He spoke while remembering. Surveillance video proves this meeting never took place.
Director Baker says in the film, “When he begins his story in great detail about the time, place, and content of a meeting that never happened, everything he said about January 6th is called into question.'' It will become.” ”
“Harry made a name for himself based on deceit and lies.”
In 2024, just as further doubts about his veracity began to emerge, Dunn retired from the Capitol Police. After losing his bid for the U.S. House of Representatives, Dunn joined the presidential campaign of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
When Dunn announced his candidacy, he told CBS News, “I don't think it's a stretch of the imagination, and I don't think it's an exaggeration, to say that we are one election away from the disappearance of democracy as we know it.” . For Congress.
During a presidential election panel discussion in Michigan in August, Dunn said that the amount of violence he and other police officers experienced at the hands of Trump supporters on January 6th was being underplayed in the news. He said that
“The violence you saw was probably 10, 100 times worse than what the cameras portrayed,” Dunn said in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Dunn was not the target of the violence on January 6th. Blaze Media's investigation revealed how the dramatic story of Dunn's actions on January 6 did not match thousands of hours of Capitol Police security video reviewed by Baker. Surveillance camera footage shows that Dunn's story doesn't quite match the evidence.
Baker got the initial idea for the video while listening to Dunn testify for prosecutors at the first Oath Keepers trial in October 2022. The details Mr. Dunn shared were not only inconsistent, they differed from what he told the FBI during his initial trial. Baker said he plans to meet with his agent in 2021.
Baker discovered that Capitol Police Special Agent David Lazarus could not have witnessed the alleged confrontation between Dunn and the Oath Keepers. Dunn testified under oath that Lazarus was near the Small House Rotunda with the Oath Keepers. However, Lazarus was on the other side of the Capitol when Dunn claimed it happened.
As Baker further investigated Dunn's public statements and media appearances, other issues emerged.
These included claims by Dunn that he engaged in “hand-to-hand combat” with rioters during the worst of the riots on January 6, when a fellow police officer was carried off on a stretcher.
Then there was Dunn's most widely repeated story, that 50 white supremacist Trump supporters chanted the N-word when he announced he had voted for Biden in the 2020 presidential election.
A review of hundreds of hours of footage from that day tracking Dunn's whereabouts found no evidence of any such “hand-to-hand combat” or racist exchanges occurring.
“The key to the story is that Harry gained fame based on deceit and lies,” Baker said.
Dunn testified under oath before the now-defunct Special Committee on January 6th. He has made countless television appearances on CNN, MSNBC, and the ABC talk show “The View.” He received the Presidential Citizens Medal from Biden at the White House in 2023.
Dan's 2023 memoir “Standing My Ground” received widespread media attention. Baker said the book, like Dunn's other public testimony, is “a treasure trove of lies.”
Capitol Police and Dunn did not respond to Blaze News' requests for comment.
