Dart had to leave the game during a 28-6 loss to the Rams after he was hit by linebacker Byron Young, leading to significant worries about his condition.
There seemed to be an initial encouragement when Laura Rutledge, the sideline reporter for “Monday Night Football,” shared Schoen’s comments during the third quarter, relaying that the general manager indicated Dart would be “OK.” However, doctors conducted X-rays at the stadium as additional tests were still pending.
Even head coach John Harbaugh, who generally refrained from sharing specifics, had previously remarked that the injury wouldn’t end Dart’s season, suggesting it might be an MCL sprain—a setback that could sideline a player for weeks but not necessarily the whole season.
Some on social media pointed out that, early in the game, it looked like the Giants’ trainer told Harbaugh healing would take “around four to six weeks.” Dart later seemed to indicate that he wasn’t allowed to return to the field.
Harbaugh seemed relieved that the situation wasn’t as grave as initially feared, but he didn’t provide clear details on what information had changed regarding Dart’s injury.
Reports suggest that Dart is seeking further medical opinions to determine whether surgery will be necessary.
