Couldn't you just try calling to haunt Dan Quinn?
The head coach did not throw a red challenge flag on a questionable catch by Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith in the first quarter with Washington down 7-3 in Sunday's NFC Championship Game in Philadelphia.
A 20-yard pass to Smith along the sideline put the Eagles deep in Commander territory, but upon closer inspection it appeared that Smith did not have two feet inbounds. .
Smith's left foot was very clearly coming down, but his right foot was dangerously close to the sideline, and there appeared to be an argument to be made whether it was inbounds or not.
But Quinn never took the challenge flag, and the chance disappeared when the Eagles rushed to the line of scrimmage and took the next play off.
The Commanders didn't get off to the best start Sunday.
The Eagles star ran past Saquon Barkley and rushed for a 60-yard touchdown in Philadelphia's second offensive game of the game.
Washington fumbled on its next possession, and Barkley scored his second touchdown of the game on a 4-yard run.
Quinn showed a bit of ingenuity when he ran a fake punt pass to keep the drive alive late in the first quarter.
This play ultimately allowed the Commanders to kick a 46-yard field goal for a 14-6 deficit.
But things didn't get much better after that, with the Eagles scoring 27 points and going into the locker room with a 27-15 lead.
Quinn is in his first year as head coach at the helm, and he became the eighth coach to take two different teams to the Super Bowl, as Washington should win on Sunday.
Quinn coached the Falcons in a loss to the Patriots after gaining a 28-3 lead.
Washington will be appearing for the first time in 33 years.
