Dan Quinn has four head coaching interviews after Cowboys debacle

Dan Quinn's latest performance is about to be seen under a whole new microscope.

A day after the Cowboys' defensive coordinator scored 48 points in his team's wild-card loss to the Packers on Sunday, Sports Illustrated reported that he will play this week against the Panthers, Titans, Commanders and Chargers. reported that they are planning a head coach interview.

Quinn was also linked to the Seahawks after they fired Pete Carroll.

It remains to be seen to what extent his latest performance will be taken into account.

In the season-ending loss, the Cowboys' defense allowed seven touchdowns and forced Green Bay to punt on just four possessions.

The team allowed 415 total yards, including 143 on the ground, 118 of which went to running back Aaron Jones, who found the end zone three times.

Even though Dak Prescott threw a pick-six, the 48 points allowed were the most by Quinn's Cowboys.

Still, the 53-year-old led a defense that finished the regular season in the top 10 in total yards, touchdowns, interceptions and first downs.

“Dan Quinn is already on the list of four other teams,” FOX Sports insider Jay Glazer said. said on sunday. “I still think Dan is still a strong candidate in the league. Despite this one game, he's still going to be there.”

Quinn also has previous experience as head coach of the Falcons from 2015 to 2020, leading them to the 2016 Super Bowl, but the team's infamous second-half collapse has raised questions about his readiness for the postseason. There is a possibility that this may occur.

The Morristown, N.J., native's status in Dallas may be in question as well. Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy is facing calls to replace him after a brief playoff run, and owner Jerry Jones hasn't offered much public support.

“I haven't thought about (McCarthy's future) for one second,” Jones said Sunday night, noting he has not yet set a time to meet with the coach.

While the Cowboys consider this surprising loss and McCarthy's future with the team, Quinn will at least keep busy with his own work.
