FOX NEWS ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
You’re tuned into our live coverage as Fox News Channel marks three decades of on-air success. Thirty years, can you believe it? Time really does fly.
A milestone like a 30th anniversary isn’t just a fluke. Fox News presents it all so seamlessly, but the behind-the-scenes effort is genuinely something to appreciate.
CELEBRATION OF THE UNSUNG HEROES
Let’s take a moment to acknowledge those behind the curtain, the individuals who enable our shows to air and give us confidence in delivering quality content to viewers. That sense of assurance is invaluable for anchors, hosts, and guests alike. Knowing that research is sound, technology is functioning, and the visuals are appropriate—it’s crucial, especially when breaking news turns everything upside down. Most of the team is organized solely to support these efforts.
Honestly, when I’m not on the screen, I walk into the office smiling. I’m really fond of my routine, yet I appreciate how everything can change on a dime. It’s invigorating.
Each morning starts with a security guard announcing, “Talent is in the building!”—a phrase that’s meant to be funny but makes me cringe. We laugh about it every day. It’s a lighthearted way to break the morning ice.
As I head to my office, I often run into a custodian who and I have started a little tradition—we greet each other with “Morning morning!” every single day without fail.
The producers, they’re the real early birds. They start working hours ahead of us, strategizing on what will make a compelling show—it’s not just about what we will say, but the viewer’s experience as a whole. They track down the latest videos, create compelling graphics, and draft scripts that engage audiences.
Then, when breaking news hits, all that careful planning can change in an instant. They must quickly gather details, verify them, locate the right visuals, and connect with correspondents—all while navigating the urgency of the moment. It may appear effortless, but that’s only because these professionals excel at what they do.
MEMORABLE INTERACTIONS
I can’t help but recall a poignant interview I had with an Afghan man who witnessed the Abbey Gate airport bombing back in August 2021 during President Biden’s troop withdrawal. He carried an injured child to safety and later shared his story with us. Normally, I maintain my composure on air, but that day, I nearly shed tears.
What stood out was the calming voice of my line producer reassuring me, “You’re OK. You’re OK.” That made all the difference, and I managed to carry on with the interview.
Assistants are essential, doing crucial research, managing schedules, anticipating issues, and addressing them. Their skills are vital, and without them, we could easily feel lost.
Our tech teams keep us plugged into current developments, something we might take for granted until, of course, something glitches. And just as important, the wardrobe department ensures we look our best. Whether it’s with a quick pin or a touch of tape, they’re always prepared. The hair and makeup team? Simply the best.
They also act as confidants. After working with my team for nearly 15 years, they’ve become like family. They help make me camera-ready at early hours and also know when I could use a laugh or a moment to gather myself. I genuinely look forward to seeing them each day.
There’s also the invaluable expertise of directors and camera operators who capture those perfect shots, and the lighting technicians whose work enhances every program. It’s about more than just technical skills; it’s about understanding how to tell a story effectively.
When out on location, we transform just about any setting into a fantastic television set, which is a special talent unto itself. I think Hollywood could learn a thing or two from our crews.
SMALL THINGS MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE
While managing the complexities of an election or breaking news, someone still remembers the little things—like my preference for warm water or a yoga mat when we’re going to be away for a while. Those seemingly minor details make a world of difference, showing a level of care and understanding that really resonates.
The support stretches way beyond our studio. Our media relations team is there to promote our work and stand up for us when needed. Knowing they’re in our corner is invaluable.
Similarly, our radio, podcast, and digital teams have grown alongside evolving technology, creating new ways to connect with audiences. What began as television content is now everywhere, from earbuds to webpages. Though the platforms have changed, the goal to find our audience and serve them remains constant.
Countless others come to mind, the names you may never hear. They’re not just colleagues; they’ve become friends through shared experiences that make work feel like part of life’s journey.
I’ve leaned on this network during significant personal challenges, like when I lost my father earlier this year. But there have also been joyous occasions—weddings, new babies, and even grandkids after all these years.
THE PATH FORWARD
This is what long-term relationships look like. We’ve shared joy and grief, adapted to changes, and grown stronger together.
Having been at Fox for nearly 17 years, I sometimes feel like a newcomer compared to those who laid the foundation for this network.
A lot has evolved since those early days—technology, platforms, and news consumption have all changed. Yet, the commitment to excellence is what remains crucial. Thanks to our robust culture and focus on accuracy, we’ve thrived for three decades and will continue to do so.
While the cameras might focus on us, the real stars—the team working quietly in the background—are the reason the show goes on.
