Reactions Following the Shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner

The response to the recent and shocking shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner keeps unfolding. However, it’s hard to imagine many reactions quite like that of UFC president Dana White.

White, a close associate of the president, was in attendance at the event. He was even interviewed on the red carpet, discussing the upcoming UFC Freedom 250 scheduled to take place at the White House on June 14th.

Things took a serious turn when a gunman entered a security checkpoint and tragically shot and killed a Secret Service agent. Thankfully, it seems that the staff member involved will recover.

While there were no reported injuries among the guests, President Trump, the First Lady, Vice President J.D. Vance, and other officials had to be evacuated from the room as attendees sought shelter under tables. It’s worth noting that the ballroom was packed with over 2,000 guests, and the atmosphere was understandably tense and chaotic.

Despite the circumstances, Dana White maintained a unique perspective. As guests streamed out of the ballroom, he took a moment with reporters to share his experience. He described the scene: “It started getting loud, tables started flipping over, guys started running out with guns and yelling, ‘Get down.’ I wasn’t depressed. It was really great. I literally took every moment of it, and it was a pretty crazy and unique experience.”

White, who found himself seated directly in front of the head table where the president and other officials were situated, conveyed that it felt like the chaos was almost surreal. He recalled the moment when law enforcement approached their table, suggesting for a brief time that they might be safe from the shooter.

It’s not likely that many would respond to such a high-stakes situation with the same calm and fortitude as Dana White, but perhaps his personality—and size—contributes to his distinct way of handling crises.
