NASCAR Honors Greg Biffle After Tragic Plane Crash

In a somber event, NASCAR is paying tribute to Greg Biffle, a former driver, following a plane crash that claimed the lives of seven people, including Biffle, his wife Christina, their two children, and three others. The accident occurred near Statesville Regional Airport in North Carolina.

On another note, Ram is making a comeback in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series this year in collaboration with the Kaulig Racing Team. They’re taking an innovative approach with a new reality competition called “Race For The Seat.” This series will spotlight 15 aspiring drivers vying for a chance to join the Kaulig Racing Team’s Ram 1500 during the 2026 season.

In an intriguing twist, UFC CEO Dana White is involved, underscoring the competitive spirit of the series. Contestants will navigate through eight exhilarating episodes set at renowned tracks like Virginia International Raceway and South Boston Speedway.

White expressed excitement about the initiative, noting that it’s a platform designed to unearth rising talents in the NASCAR Truck Series. “The best drivers will emerge from this competition,” he remarked. This concept isn’t foreign to him, as he’s well-versed in reality shows with his experience from UFC’s “The Ultimate Fighter.”

Kaulig Racing’s owner and Ram’s CEO Tim Kuniskis will provide candid insights throughout the series, revealing what it takes to make the team from both a driver’s and an owner’s perspective. Kaulig emphasized the unique opportunity for new drivers to showcase their skills, indicating a shift in how talent is scouted within the sport.

The competition will lead to the selection of one additional driver to join Brenden “Butterbean” Queen, Daniel Dye, and Justin Haley for the upcoming season. Furthermore, a novel free agent program tied to Kaulig Racing’s No. 25 Ram Truck is slated for November 2025, encouraging drivers from varied backgrounds to participate.

Mark your calendars, as the show will debut on FOX in the United States on January 25th at 12:00 PM ET, with subsequent episodes available on the official Ram YouTube channel from January 26 to February 6.

In August 2025, Ram announced its commitment to Kaulig Racing as the primary team for its anticipated return to NASCAR, marking a significant chapter both in racing and in corporate collaboration.

This partnership aims to redefine standards in the sport, demonstrating a blend of innovation and tradition. It’s intriguing to see how this will play out and who will ultimately secure a place on the track.
