YOUNTVILLE, Calif. (AP) — “Dancing with the Stars” pro Artyom Chigvintsev was arrested Thursday in Northern California and booked on domestic violence charges, according to the local sheriff's office.
Chigvintsev was arrested after Napa County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a domestic violence call in Yountville that revealed possible abuse, said Henry Wofford, a spokesman for the Napa County Sheriff's Office.
Chigvintsev cooperated with police and was charged with felony domestic violence, a charge that cannot be brought without a highly credible witness or clear signs of abuse. The investigation is ongoing. Wofford said it cannot release any information about the alleged victim or her relationship with Chigvintsev.
Chigvintsev was released on $25,000 bail Thursday afternoon, Wofford said. A representative for Chigvintsev did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment on his behalf, and it was not immediately clear whether he has an attorney.
