American tennis player Danielle Collins had some strong words for a photographer during her match against Emma Raducanu in Strasbourg on Wednesday. While switching sides, Collins felt the cameraman was a bit too close for comfort. So, she stood up and made her feelings known.
“I need some water. We’re in the switch. You don’t have to be near me, and you definitely don’t need to be on top of Emma. That’s just inappropriate,” Collins pointed out. “It’s really not that hard to give a little space.”
The camera remained focused on Collins while she filled her water bottle, with Raducanu still in view. Ultimately, Collins won the match with a score of 4-6, 6-1, 6-3, and will go on to face Anna Karinskaya in the quarterfinals.
Raducanu did notice Collins’s comments during the match. “I was standing because of my back; I didn’t want to sit in the third set. I felt more comfortable standing, and when she came to fill her bottle, she mentioned that the cameraman was a bit too close and felt that it was inappropriate,” Raducanu explained.
As both players prepare for the upcoming French Open, the match showcased not just skill but also the intense dynamics of the sport.
