Danilo Gallinari's expectant wife shares her thoughts after shark attack

Eleono Boy, the pregnant spouse of former NBA player Danilo Garinari, disclosed her lingering fear after a recent shark attack in Puerto Rico that led to her hospitalization.

“I have to say I’m traumatized,” Boy mentioned during a segment on “Good Morning America” on Thursday. “I began crying and screaming for help—in Italian, no less.”

Initially, Boy called it “the worst day of my life” while sharing a photo from what appeared to be a hospital on August 1st.

According to the “Good Morning America” segment, Boy was swimming in the “West Deep” waters in Carolina with Garinari and their two children—a four-year-old daughter and a two-year-old son—when the attack took place.

Boy later posted on Instagram, mentioning that the beach was quite crowded at the time.

“I felt a strong pain and my thighs were on fire, but I thought, ‘Maybe it’s a huge jellyfish,'” she recalled. “But, it was not a jellyfish at all.”

After the attack, the family quickly exited the water, and a bystander stepped in to assist Boy.

The segment highlighted how an unknown woman applied pressure to the wound with a towel until further help arrived.

“Oh my God, I kept saying, ‘I don’t want to die,’ and ‘I want my baby to be safe,'” Boy expressed. “I was in tears—really desperate.”

Boy expressed gratitude for the help she received during such a critical moment.

“She was an angel. Danilo was with me, and she was incredibly supportive,” Boy told the network.

“I don’t know her name, but I want to thank that woman. She really helped me a lot.”

Afterward, Boy was taken to the hospital for several hours of testing.

At six months pregnant, doctors conducted various tests since she mentioned the baby is a boy.

Boy is anticipated to make a full recovery, and following an interview with ABC, she plans to have regular check-ups with her doctors, though she admits she’s still facing challenges.

Earlier, she humorously noted on Instagram that the sharks might be hearing from her lawyer soon.

“Honestly, it’s not easy,” Boy stated. “I still feel scared when I think back on it. It’s tough.”

Boy and Garinari tied the knot in 2022. Garinari recently played in Puerto Rico’s top basketball league, having spent 14 seasons in the NBA.
