Dante “Turbo” Miller Making Waves at Training Camp

Dante “Turbo” Miller definitely lives up to his name.

According to special teams coordinator Michael Gobrial, “Turbo embodies the speed you’d expect. His practice attitude is impressive, and that translates into solid habits on the field. His ability to outrun opponents really stands out.”

Miller, who went undrafted last year, mostly spent his time on the practice squad, although he did see action in two games. This year, though, he seems to have a genuine chance to showcase his skills during training camp and preseason.

In the Giants’ first preseason game, he made a solid impression, registering seven catches for 80 yards. However, his impact in the second preseason game against the Jets is what could truly help him secure a roster spot.

During that game, Miller took on a role as a special teams gunner, making crucial plays that helped tackle the kickoff team. He even returned a kickoff, further increasing his visibility.

While other players like Tyrone Tracy Jr., Cam Skattebo, and Devin Singletary are ahead of him, the situation with Skattebo’s availability raises questions. If Skattebo is unable to play, it might actually benefit Miller. But, impressing in special teams is key for anyone looking to secure a lasting position.

Miller is becoming more skilled in this area, and he’s not the only one making strides. Receiver Bo Collins, a fellow undrafted rookie, has also been active in training camp and preseason games, finding a path that might lead to a spot on the roster through special teams.

“First and foremost, he’s got the right build,” Gobrial remarked. “He’s committed to doing things correctly. You can tell he’s a football player—he’s instinctive and tough, with great speed. All those attributes make him a potential asset on special teams.”

It’s encouraging to see him succeed, as he’s doing whatever it takes to help the team.

Competition Heating Up for Cornerback Spots

On the defensive side, coordinator Shane Bowen feels that the competition for the second cornerback position is beneficial for both Deonte Banks and Cor’dale Flott.

“Both have gained experience through participation in several games, and it shows. Competing against each other makes them improve,” Bowen commented. “There has definitely been production on their part.”
