Dante Moore spoke about the hit that resulted in him being taken off the field in an ambulance after suffering a concussion.
During a recent game, Southern California linebacker Desman Stephens II delivered a brutal blow to the head of the Oregon quarterback, leaving Moore on the ground for quite some time before he was carted away on a stretcher.
Just two days after the incident, Moore shared on Instagram that he has “made progress” since that night.
He expressed gratitude to his teammates, the community, and fans, saying, “These past 2 days have been very difficult, but through all of your prayers I have made progress. There’s times I question myself and the Lord and say, ‘Why now?’ but I quickly remember Jeremiah 29:11: ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”
Moore added, “I can only worry about today, and making sure I give today its full attention. I’ll be back soon. Go Ducks!”
Oregon’s coach, Dan Lanning, confirmed that Moore had suffered a concussion, but the MRI and CT scans revealed no further injuries. There is currently no timeline for his return this season.
During an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Lanning emphasized the importance of exercising caution. He stated, “It’s one of those situations where we got to protect a player from himself. I’m sure he’s anxious to get out on the field, but we want to ensure he’s healthy.” He mentioned another player, Dylan, who served as an example of being prepared to step up when necessary.
Lanning continued, “To go out there and play every snap if it’s needed, and a lot of times it doesn’t happen, but it happened in the game on Saturday, and he was ready for it, executed at a really high level, and gave us a chance to win.”
