Darby Allin keeps the AEW World Championship before facing MJF at Double or Nothing

Darby Allin keeps his AEW title while Brody King steps up as the next contender.

AEW Championship Highlights from Dynamite and Collision

Darby Allin faced off against “Speedball” Mike Bailey in his final defense of the AEW World Championship during Wednesday’s back-to-back episodes of “Dynamite” and “Collision,” with Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) watching closely as his upcoming challenger.

Since winning the title from MJF about a month ago, Allin has been on quite the winning streak. Heading into a hair vs. title match with MJF, Allin showcased why he remains a top-tier contender in professional wrestling.

Bailey attempted a high-flying move but missed, allowing Allin to land a coffin drop. However, MJF intervened by placing Bailey’s foot on the ropes just in time to avoid the three-count. Bailey nearly lost after a kick to the head but managed to recover.

Allin kept the pressure on, applying multiple Scorpion Death Locks until Bailey ultimately tapped out. With the stakes raised, the upcoming match against MJF will be a double-or-nothing affair—if Allin wins, MJF faces a head shave.

Willow Nightingale Vacates TBS Title Due to Injury

In another segment, Willow Nightingale announced her injury and the forfeiture of the TBS title during “Dynamite.” Reflecting on her reign, she mentioned how winning the championship had been one of her career highlights. “Winning this championship was one of the best moments of my career,” she expressed. “But the injury to my right shoulder in a recent match against Red Velvet means I can’t continue.” Nightingale, who was eager to compete at Double or Nothing, will also have to give up her shot at the Owen Hart Cup, a significant disappointment for her.

She told TBS she was “over the moon” about having defended her title ten times and expressed hopes for a return, even if it’s uncertain when that might be. Meanwhile, Mina Shirakawa will go against Athena in the first round of the Owen tournament, with Alex Windsor set to face an unknown opponent.

Will Ospreay Prepares for Double or Nothing

Will Ospreay took center stage during the “Clash” segment of the special, battling Katsuyori Shibata as a warm-up for his upcoming match against Samoa Joe in the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament. Ospreay displayed a fierce fighting style, dominating Shibata with a Styles Clash and Hidden Blade, ultimately securing the victory.

After the match, Joe taunted Ospreay, commenting, “I’m going to put you to sleep.” Ospreay responded with thoughts on overcoming his previous fears and embracing his new identity after training with the Death Riders. He remarked that his upcoming match at Double or Nothing will be a pivotal moment, potentially fulfilling not only his dreams but also those of his country.

Swerve Strickland and Bandido’s Brawl

Swerve Strickland has been vocal about targeting Ring of Honor Champion Bandido, and their rivalry took a physical turn ahead of their meeting at Double or Nothing. During a recent address in Portland, Maine, Bandido unexpectedly attacked Strickland, leading to a brawl that showcased both wrestlers’ intensity. Strickland managed to evade a major blow before the scene escalated.
