Darby Allin Continues His Dominance in AEW

Once again, Darby Allin proved his prowess in the ring on Saturday night during All Elite Wrestling’s “Collision.” His recent match against Sammy Guevara for the AEW World Championship showcased his ability to knock down formidable opponents. Guevara, who is currently one half of the Ring of Honor Tag Team Champions, took the challenge to Allin. Interestingly, Allin was set to face Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) next week at Double or Nothing in New York City, but he stepped into the title scene early.

Allin has now defended his title successfully five times since defeating MJF, overcoming tough competitors like Tommaso Ciampa, Brody King, Kevin Knight, Pac, and Konosuke Takeshita. On this night, Guevara was up for the challenge.

Fans anticipated a thrilling encounter, possibly one that would see both wrestlers at risk. At one point, Guevara set Allin up on a table and climbed a ladder, seemingly aiming to create some significant damage. He attempted a daring dive, but Allin wasn’t easily taken down. Despite a powerful Spanish Fly and Guevara’s dive from the top rope, Allin rolled Guerrero back into the ring and executed a coffin drop to secure his victory.

Mark Briscoe’s Unexpected Comeback

Meanwhile, Mark Briscoe made a surprising return after a lengthy absence due to an assault by Ciampa. His return was met with wild enthusiasm from the crowd as he teamed with Orange Cassidy and Kyle O’Reilly, a faction known as The Conglomeration. They faced Lee Moriarty, Sean Dean, and Jay Triller in a World Trios title elimination match. When Briscoe got tagged in, he quickly turned the tide of the match, using a chair to great effect, delivering a Froggy Bow and a Jade Driller.

This comeback sets the stage for Briscoe’s upcoming no-disqualification match against Ciampa on Wednesday during a special three-hour episode of “Collision” paired with “Dynamite.”

Ospreay Motivated for Championship Glory

As for Will Ospreay, he is focused on claiming a spot in the AEW World Championship. He’s preparing to face Samoa Joe in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. Ospreay has been training hard and recently addressed Joe directly, apologizing for not responding to his messages, explaining how he has been busy preparing for the tournament. He opened up about the past six months, which he described as filled with frustration and perseverance, expressing his determination to return stronger than ever.

“Joe, I respect everything you’ve accomplished,” Ospreay said. “No one will stop me from winning with Owen. It’s poetic that the man who took my previous life away now offers me a shot at the world championship.”
