Darius Slayton’s discontent not reason Giants signed Allen Robinson

The Giants’ signing of veteran wide receiver Allen Robinson to a one-year deal has nothing to do with dissatisfaction with Darius Slayton’s contract, coach Brian Daboll said.

Slayton, who is in the final year of a two-year, $12.2 million contract, is seeking a new contract and is not participating in a voluntary training program.

Robinson, 30, has 562 receptions and 49 touchdowns in his 10-year NFL career.

In 2023, he played in 17 games with the Steelers and had 34 catches for 280 yards.

“I had a good workout,” Daboll said Friday after rookie minicamp practice. “He’s been a productive player for a while now. We had some good conversations. In the end he chose to come here. We’re happy to have him. We’re going to throw him out there and see how he does.” intend to.”

All three quarterbacks participating in minicamp, Liam Thompson (Wabash), Ben Bryant (Northwestern) and Blake Stenstrom (Princeton), are participating on a tryout basis.

The Giants claimed quarterback Nathan Roark off waivers earlier this week, but he is not in camp.

Rourke, 25, played for Ohio University and the CFL’s British Columbia Lions, and has also played for the Jaguars and Patriots.

“I thought that was a good argument,” Daboll said. “Have another arm. He had some good numbers in the CFL and I saw him in Jacksonville and he was with the Patriots. I thought he was a good player to add.”

The Giants have officially hired Chris Snee as a senior scout.

He will be involved in both college and professional scouting.

Snee, 42, is a member of the team’s Ring of Honor and has won two Super Bowls as a Pro Bowl guard.

He wanted to work for the Giants two years ago and had discussions with first-year general manager Joe Schon, but Sunee at the time was unable to meet the time commitment that came with the job.

“I couldn’t give you the time I needed because there were some things I wanted to confirm personally,” Suni said.

With his children growing up and Suni no longer involved in youth coaching, the time was right to return to the team where he spent 10 years as a player. Snee previously worked as a scout for the Jaguars and the past two years as a football analyst for his alma mater, Boston University.

“I’m very excited,” Snee said. “I’m a Jaguars, and I wore Jaguars clothes for four years when I went scouting with the Jaguars, and it was always the Jaguars. Everyone knows my heart is always here. I feel like this is where I belong and where I want to be, so I want to come in and do my best.”

The Giants made two more changes to their personnel department. Nick La Testa has been promoted to Assistant Director of Pro Scouting and Charles Tisch is currently Manager of Football Administration.

The Giants signed eight undrafted free agents: WR Isle Asante (Wyoming), DB Alex Johnson (UCLA), WR John Giles (West Florida), OT Marcellus Johnson (Missouri), and DL Casey Rogers. (Oregon), G Jake Kubas (North Dakota State) and DE Obie Ogfo (LSU). K Jude McAtamny (Rutgers) is not counted on the roster as he is an international player.
