'Dark Matter' Season 3 Release Date Details: Is a Third Season of 'Dark Matter' Coming to Apple TV? What We Know So Far

Fans of Dark Matter will definitely be craving more after the end credits of Season 2, Episode 10, titled “No Quiet Life.” But will we actually get more episodes?

The Season 1 finale left quite an impression, and the second season wrapped up just as thrillingly. The show’s official synopsis hinted at “a high-stakes gambit that leads to unintended consequences.” In a chat with Decider, Jimmi Simpson, one of the stars, pointed out, “Life throws unexpected realities at you, no matter how well you plan.” It seems they delivered on that promise!

So, what’s next after the intense cliffhanger in Episode 10? How many episodes were there in Season 2? What about a potential Season 3 on Apple TV? Has the show been renewed or canceled already? And when might we actually see Season 3 drop?

Here’s what we know so far regarding the possibility of Dark Matter Season 3, including insights from producer Jacquelyn Ben-Zekry and details from Simpson’s interview.

How Many Episodes Are In Dark Matter Season 2?

Just like its first season, Dark Matter Season 2 features 10 episodes. The finale aired on Thursday, October 29, at 9:00 p.m. ET.

Will There Be A Dark Matter Season 3?

As Season 2 was nearing its finale, Apple TV had not officially confirmed a third season. However, it’s not unusual for streaming platforms to delay announcements after new seasons wrap up. Considering the way Season 2 concluded, there’s still a lot of story to unfold. The season also earned a solid 82% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, so, there’s that! Plus, plans for Season 3 are already in motion.

In an interview with ScreenRant, Jacquelyn Ben-Zekry mentioned, “When we pitched Season 2, we designed the entire story as a trilogy. It would be amazing to finish the narrative on our own terms.” So, there’s hope!

Simpson, in our conversation, expressed enthusiasm for what Season 3 could mean for his character, Ryan. He mentioned the importance of finding love for Ryan, who has excelled in many areas except that one. “I’d really like to see him develop something more meaningful,” he added, hinting at a potential romance with another character.

He reflected on another character’s feelings as well, noting, “It’s clear Amanda still cares for Jason, and Ryan has noticed. It’s confusing, but he’s patient—after all, he can handle waiting in other universes to figure things out.”

It seems like there’s movement towards making Dark Matter Season 3 happen, right? Keep your eyes peeled for updates!

When Will Dark Matter Season 3 Come Out?

As no official renewal is in sight yet, there’s no confirmed release date for Season 3. Given that there was a two-year gap between the first and second seasons, it might take a while before we see new episodes. Definitely stay tuned!
