Darryl Strawberry shares about his wife's difficult health struggle in a recent update.

Darryl Strawberry has opened up about a challenging period for him and his wife, Tracy.

In an honest Instagram post shared on Wednesday, the former MLB star expressed gratitude to the medical team and others supporting Tracy amid his “serious health issues.”

“This has been a really tough time for us, and we want to thank God for His grace and mercy,” Strawberry wrote, accompanied by a photo of Tracy in a hospital bed.

“My heart has been heavy lately 🥲, and I just want to express my appreciation to everyone who has been there for my wife. Thank you to all the doctors and nurses for your exceptional care and commitment in helping my wife through consecutive surgeries and major health challenges. Your kindness is invaluable to our family during this difficult period.”

Earlier this month, Tracy mentioned her preparations for “major surgery to fight early-stage cancer and have a hip replacement at the end of the year” scheduled for July 2025. Strawberry shared his admiration for her resilience, stating, “Your unwavering spirit inspires all of us. Even amidst your struggles, you prioritize family and others, showing the selflessness that defines you.” He reflected on how she has taught him about faith during tough times.

Strawberry, now 63, didn’t delve deeply into Tracy’s health situation but has continued providing updates about her recovery. He recently described how he supported her after a setback following surgery.

“Tracy had some uplifting moments post-surgery, but encountered a setback. I stayed by her side, laid my hands on her, and prayed, trusting God to grant her peace and healing. She fell asleep calmly, and I felt much better when I woke up. Thank you to everyone who prayed for us during this tough time. Your support means everything.”

Darryl and Tracy, who tied the knot in 2006, both turned to faith following their battles with substance abuse. Strawberry fondly recalled their initial meeting at a Narcotics Anonymous convention, where they connected over shared experiences and struggles.

The four-time World Series champion started his MLB journey with the Mets in 1983, claiming his first title in 1986. He later played for the Dodgers, Giants, and Yankees, securing three additional championships with the Bronx in 1996, 1998 (though he didn’t participate in the postseason), and 1999.
