Dashcam video captures 8-year-old Ohio girl driving family SUV on Target run

Dash cam video was released that shows an 8-year-old girl driving her mother's car on the way to a Target store in Ohio for shopping.

Bedford police said over the weekend that a girl who had been reported missing was found safe and shopping after driving nearly 30 minutes on busy roads in her mother's car to a popular retail store.

The case began Sunday morning when police received a report of a missing child, but as they began their investigation, they began receiving calls “about a small child running eastbound on Rockside Road.” FOX 8 Cleveland reports.

In newly released dashcam video recorded from a personal vehicle, a man can be heard calling police to report that the car behind him is “swerving all over the place.”

The “lane-varying driver” is then seen walking into the dashcam's field of view, and the man can be heard telling the dispatcher, “It looks like a kid!”

A teenager hit an NYPD officer with a stolen car, crashing the vehicle before making a dramatic arrest on a rooftop, according to video.

Police found the girl's car while shopping at Target, according to FOX 8. The girl also told police she had hit a mailbox while driving the estimated 10 miles between her home and the store.

Officers said they contacted relatives to recover the vehicle and the girl, who is now safely home.

“Finally found a woman in a bigger hurry to shop at Target than my wife. And an 8 year old in a bigger hurry,” Bedford police posted on the department's Facebook page, joking, “Yup, an 8 year old got in mom's car this morning to go shopping at Target in Bainbridge.”

“We don't know what she bought or if she used the Target app to get 5 percent off. We made her finish her Frappuccino. We're not mean,” police continued.

Police told FOX 8 they are thankful no one was injured because the girl is too young to face criminal charges.
