Daughter of Gilgo Beach suspect Rex Heuermann: 'I don't judge others'

Daughter of Gilgo Beach Murder Suspect Speaks Out

The daughter of Rex Heuermann, who is accused of being the Gilgo Beach murderer, has expressed her mixed feelings regarding the charges against him, stating, “I’m not a kink shamer.” Victoria Heuermann, 28, shared her thoughts during a recent Peacock documentary series titled “Gilgo Beach Killer: House of Secrets.”

“You know, everyone knows they’re interested,” she mentioned, implying that there’s a wider interest in the allegations surrounding her father. Victoria explained, “After everything that happened, I’m not the type to say, ‘Hey, you shouldn’t get into this.'” She reiterated her stance by saying simply, “I’m not a kink shamer.”

Victoria’s accusations against her father included allegations of sexual assault, which reportedly surfaced after his arrest at their family home.

When asked whether she believed her 61-year-old father was guilty of murder, she had a complex answer: “Half of me believes he didn’t do it, but at the same time, he could have had a total double life.” Initially, she seemed to think he was guilty.

Reflecting on her past, she recalled, “When this first broke, I didn’t know what to think. As time went on, a lot of memories came back.” She reminisced about how her father attended every school event, from performances to dance recitals. “My mom would pick him up from the train every day,” she said, sounding somewhat conflicted.

Victoria conveyed her love for her father but also acknowledged that feelings of hate could coexist with that love. “If he’s guilty, it’s going to feel like a romantic relationship,” she explained. “This is my father, and I love him, but there’s this other side… Both emotions can exist together.”

Notably, in an interview shortly before the documentary’s release, Victoria adjusted her earlier assertions about her father’s guilt, now suggesting that he might be, in her view, “the most likely” to be guilty.

Growing up in their Massapequa Park home, she mentioned that the intense public scrutiny forced her into isolation. “We had friends over for a while, but then we pretty much stopped until early September,” she said. “Now I just hide away in my room. It feels like it’s open season on my family.”

Rex Heuermann was arrested on July 13, 2023, outside his Manhattan office, charged with the cold case murders of three young sex workers. Victoria described her father as a “true crime fan,” while he awaits trial in this sensational case.

Asa Ellerup, Rex’s wife, added that Victoria was conceived the night they married in Sweden back in 1995 after years of friendship. Victoria’s older half-brother, Christopher, who comes from Asa’s first marriage, mentioned that she had a happy childhood.

Victoria said, “When all of this broke, I thought about changing my name,” but ultimately decided against it as time passed. “I’ve been dealing with this,” she explained.

One of the toughest moments for her occurred in 2023 when federal and local authorities raided their home shortly after Rex’s arrest. They were forced to leave as extensive searches were conducted for evidence related to the allegations.

Upon returning, Victoria discovered that her “magic gathering” cards and the new PlayStation 5 were missing. “The house was a mess, and I struggled to find a place to sit,” she recalled. “When I came back and saw everything they took, it felt like they were trying to crush us. It was as if they thought we were guilty too.”
