Dispute at Tim Hortons Leads to Heart Attack and Controversy
A woman’s daughter has made alarming claims following her mother’s death at a Tim Hortons in Indiana. The 75-year-old woman, Anita Grayson, passed away from a heart attack after a confrontation with a store manager. Her daughter, Townda Grayson, suggested that police might be trying to obscure the truth behind her mother’s death.
Townda shared her thoughts with a news outlet, alleging that the Fort Wayne police manipulated surveillance footage from the incident on May 13 to portray her mother in a negative light. According to her, the footage misleadingly showed that Anita was the first to strike.
In a video recap, it’s seen that Anita throws a punch at an employee, and then engages in more aggressive behavior, including scratching the manager’s face and attempting to pull his hair. Following the altercation, she reportedly collapsed and later died from a heart attack.
Townda expressed her frustration, stating, “They are trying to cover it up, trying to shift the blame onto my mother.” However, local authorities dismissed her speculations.
Under community scrutiny, Fort Wayne police eventually released the video to address public concerns. They mentioned that a 20-year-old shift manager had told Anita to leave after she began hurling insults. An older employee intervened but was forcefully pushed back by Anita, leading to an exchange in which she struck him.
The situation escalated when the employee retaliated, which reportedly resulted in Anita being knocked to the ground. Sadly, she was unresponsive by the time police arrived.
Townda reflected on the tragedy, saying, “You shouldn’t go into a coffee shop, have coffee and donuts, and come out lifeless. That’s diabolical.”
As for the official cause of death, the Allen County Coroner’s Office hasn’t made a final determination yet, but indicated there were “no significant contributing injuries” found in the preliminary assessment.
A spokesperson for the Fort Wayne Police Department urged the public to await the complete investigation and not rely on fragmented video footage or misleading reports.
A representative from Tim Hortons expressed their condolences, emphasizing that ensuring the health and safety of all patrons remains a top priority, and affirmed that their franchisees are fully cooperating with authorities.
