Davante Adams trade makes perfect sense for these 6 teams after latest rumors

It looks like Davante Adams' stay in Las Vegas is coming to an end. With the team failing to really utilize him, Adams being quiet about his future, and the most obvious conclusion shaping up to be trading him to a contender, the receiver Speculation has increased in recent weeks about whether he will remain with the struggling Raiders.

That situation became more likely Tuesday afternoon with news that the Raiders are starting to warm up to the idea and have begun the process of accepting a trade call for Adams.

For a deal to happen, a team would need at least $13 million in open cap space to take on Adams' contract. The good news is that nearly half the league has that money available, but that doesn't mean Adams is a perfect fit on all of those rosters. To get this job, he would have to land on a team better than the Raiders and not just a lateral move. And from there, in order to be happy, you need to be in a place of influence.

Here are six teams that actually make sense.

san francisco 49ers

This is an offense that continues to have injury issues with Christian McCaffrey. Not only did the 49ers lose their star running back, they also lost one of their best pass catchers in the process. This trend was further amplified as Brandon Aiyuk struggles to make an impact in 2024.

San Francisco's windows are open right now, but it feels like they're starting to close. It's unclear when rookie Ricky Pearsall will get reps, meaning this team needs weapons. There's enough cap space to make it work, so adding Adams to the offense will hopefully get this team back on track, allowing Aiyuk to be more creative outside the slot while Adams can be contained on the outside. This means that it can be used in a similar way.

If winning a championship is a goal for both parties (and it is), this would be one of the best landing spots.

commander of washington

It would be wild to think of Washington as a major landing spot, but it certainly is. Kliff Kingsbury and Jaden Daniels are playing well on offense, but the team is in dire need of another receiver besides Terry McLaurin.

Right now, TE Zach Ertz is the team's second-leading receiver, but there's no way this is going to work. Adding Davante Adams to the team will only further improve this team's chances of winning the NFC East, which is exactly what the new owners want.

Realistically, the managers aren't in championship contention, but there's a lot to be happy about rejuvenating Adams' career with a developing offense. It also ensures he gets a lot of targets.

arizona cardinals

This team likes to go three-wide, but their talent after Marvin Harrison Jr. is questionable. While Arizona will be a landing spot with no impact on the Raiders, Adams is a maker and mentor to Harrison Jr. who will have a role where he can make a difference.

The biggest question is whether this counts as lateral movement. The Cardinals have a lot of potential, but much of it won't materialize in 2024. It's very likely that Arizona doesn't mesh with what Adams is looking for, but with fewer teams than the Cardinals, they shouldn't be ruled out. It is expected that you will end up making a phone call.

new york jets

At this point, the Jets will be doing everything they can to get closer to a championship. Adams checks all the boxes, being a difference-maker on offense and being familiar with Aaron Rodgers.

Will he be enough to turn the Jets into Super Bowl contenders? He won't be able to do it on his own, but he will bring this team closer. And the team is committed to moving this project forward for a year, and is worried about the organization's future after that.

The Jets should be considered favorites just because of their relationship with Rodgers.

green bay packers

Could a comical return to Green Bay materialize? Don't write it down.

The Packers are currently fighting to compete in the tough NFC North, but unfortunately many players have not lived up to their potential. Josh Jacobs' splash turns into a drip, Christian Watson doesn't progress, and Jordan Love needs another target.

It's unclear what kind of feelings there are between the two, but it would make a lot of sense for Adams to return to where it all started.

indianapolis colts

The wild card team is the Colts, who will far outperform their division in 2024 thanks to their coaching. There's no doubt the team has solid WR talent in Alec Pierce and Michael Pittman Jr., but if the Colts can continue to feed the offense, a wild card possibility is very real. is.

Adams' vertical ability blends well with Anthony Richardson's huge arm and could be the difference-maker this team needs to get out of a 2-2 deficit and start racking up more wins. If that's appealing to Adams, it could be a very attractive landing spot in Shane Steichen's offense and rejuvenate his career.

3 teams to watch to see if they can free up cap space

Kansas City Chiefs: Needless to say, Laci Rice was injured.

Baltimore Ravens: Lamar Jackson needs receiver, stays wet

Pittsburgh Steelers: Calvin Austin III slotting in opposite George Pickens could have a big impact.
