With a new general manager in Las Vegas, some Raiders fans may have been concerned that All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams would be on the trade block.

Think again.

“He’s a Raider,” Tom Telesco told reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine on Tuesday about potentially trading Adams this offseason.

It’s no secret that Adams was unhappy with the Raiders, especially after quarterback Derek Carr, with whom he had a good relationship, left in 2022.

But since Antonio Pierce took over as interim head coach last season, Adams has expressed more optimism about his team and his situation. It also helped that Pierce had his interim tag removed after the season and remained at the position beyond 2024.

Luke Getsi, who Adams worked with during his rookie year with the Green Bay Packers in 2014, has also been hired as the team’s offensive coordinator.

“He’s an open-minded type of coach. … He’s open to input from veteran players who know how this works and the best way to do things,” Adams said on ESPN. Ta.

“Open-mindedness and, like I said, innovation to the offense and good run-pass balance. And that’s what I’m used to, the West Coast style. It’s going to be fun working with a new system. [yet] Something a little more familiar. ”

Telesco also discussed moving back Josh Jacobs, another key Raider whose future is in doubt.

Telesco said he “doesn’t expect” to use the franchise tag on anyone this offseason, so Jacobs will become a free agent if Las Vegas doesn’t re-sign him.

However, Telesco’s comments about the team’s offensive dynamics sound promising.

“He’s a Raiders player, he was drafted by the Raiders, so he’s a high-level player.” “Yeah, we’re going to explore pretty hard to see if we can get him back here and start something from there. But as far as a player, running game, passing game, pass protection. He’s going to really help us win the game. “

Adams had another 100-plus reception season, but his average yards per catch of 11.1 was the lowest of his career since 2015. However, he finished with 1,144 yards and eight touchdowns, although he had a league-leading 14 receiving touchdowns. Preseason under Kerr.

The Raiders’ quarterback situation is also something to keep an eye on heading into the new year. Aidan O’Connell will continue to fill the starting role he took over from Jimmy Garoppolo when Pierce took over.

Garoppolo, who has been suspended since the beginning of the year for a PED violation, is not expected to remain with the Raiders, the team he signed a three-year contract with last offseason, into 2024. Therefore, Telesco could potentially add a quarterback for free. Agency or NFL Draft.

However, Adams is not someone fans should worry about leaving at this point. He will be playing in the third year of a five-year contract he signed with the team when he was traded from the Packers in 2022. Adams will opt out in 2025.
