Republican businessman Dave McCormick announced Thursday that he will seek to unseat Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA), who lost the 2022 Republican Senate primary by less than 1,000 votes, to the 2024 Pennsylvania Senate seat. He has announced his candidacy for parliamentary office.
Mr. McCormick graduated from West Point Military Academy, served in combat in Iraq, and was CEO of Bridgewater Associates before entering politics.
McCormick addressed supporters at a campaign announcement event at the Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Senate race will be closely watched because it could determine which party controls the Senate in 2025.
In announcing his candidacy, McCormick said, “Pennsylvanians, as you walk through the halls of this great museum, you will realize that America is the most exceptional country in the world, and its birthplace is right here in Pennsylvania.” I remember it,” he said. “And this remarkable city, Pittsburgh, is the industrial powerhouse that has made it a global superpower.”
McCormick’s campaign announcement comes after he finished second in the 2022 Pennsylvania Republican Senate primary to Mehmet Oz and ultimately lost to Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.). Announced.
McCormick repeatedly accused Sen. Casey of being a “rubber stamp” on President Joe Biden’s policies that lead the United States into decline “economically, militarily and spiritually.”

“Under Joe Biden and Bob Casey, things that should go up are going down and things that are supposed to go down are going up. We can and must do better. We are losing the country.” We can’t afford to. We can’t lose our culture. We can’t accept the status quo,” McCormick said.
“My opponent is a rubber stamp. More specifically, he’s a Joe Biden rubber stamp. When Joe Biden says he’s going to jump, Bob Casey says how high he’s going to jump. Joe Biden says he’s going to vote. And Bob Casey says which one. And when Joe Biden calls, Bob Casey comes running,” McCormick added.
“Bob Casey has been rubber stamping for six more years. Six more years of inflation. Six more years of fleeing crime. Six more years of the immigration crisis. Six more years of attacks on the domestic energy sector and six more years of attacks abroad. “We have another six years of dangerous national security policies that weaken our country,” he continued.

Steve Daines, chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), welcomed McCormick’s entry into the Republican primary, where no other candidates have announced.
