Dr. Dave Weldon was selected as CDC director for Donald Trump, but he was drawn from a nomination for previous comments he made regarding the vaccine.
Weldon is a former lawmaker who introduced the Vaccine Safety and Public Trust Guarantee Act in 2007, and described several issues regarding vaccine safety.
“Some issues with vaccine safety have been going on for years. Responses from public health agencies have been largely defensive from the start, and research has been plagued by conflicts of interest. Legitimate questions continue regarding the possible connection between mercury-based preservatives, thimerosal, and childhood epidemics of neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD), including autism,” Weldon wrote in the introduction of his conduct.
