David Carr awkwardly jokes that Taylor Swift should be dating married George Kittle

David Kerr’s attempt at a Taylor Swift joke ahead of the 2024 Super Bowl opener in Las Vegas turned out to be a painfully awkward moment that went unpopular with some fans.

On Monday’s “Total Access,” the former Giants quarterback turned NFL Network analyst said Swift, who is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, is dating San Francisco 49ers tight end Travis Kelce. I joked that I should be with George Kittle.

“George Kittle. I’m glad Taylor Swift is out of the country because if she meets George Kittle, she might reconsider her choice of tight end,” Kerr said.

That didn’t go down well with host Kimi Checks.

“What! No!” she screamed. “He’s married to his college sweetheart.” [Claire Kittle].

“Okay, I understand.”

NFL Network anchor Mike Yam and former Super Bowl-winning quarterback and analyst Chase Daniel sat in their seats and said, “Uh-oh,” amid the ups and downs.

“Oh, I get it! That’s my fault,” Carr said repeatedly, throwing his hands up in seeming surrender.

“Shout out to Claire Kittle over there,” Checks added.

There are many reasons why Kerr’s joke was strange, but the most obvious is that Kittle and Claire married in April 2019 after dating since their college days at the University of Iowa.

Kittle is also good friends with Kelce, and the two founded Tight End University with Greg Olsen, who retired in 2021. The college is an immersive, three-day program that brings tight ends together for a variety of activities including film study, on-field training and recovery. , rehabilitation etc.

Kerr’s cringe-worthy moment comes before the reigning champion Chiefs face the 49ers in the big game at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday, February 11th, when organizers announced the “Who Will Steal the Show in the Super Bowl Opener?” I visited when I was naming the selection.

Some fans didn’t like the joke.

“What a weirdo,” one X user wrote, while another added: “Are they insufferable carrs?”

Swift is expected to attend Super Bowl 58, with a concert scheduled in Tokyo the night before the big game.
