Activist Critiques Rhetoric Following Shooting Incident

Gun control advocate David Hogg expressed concerns on MS NOW about the characterization of Renee Goode, who was reportedly shot and killed by an ICE agent. He described the assertion that she was to blame as “dangerous” rhetoric.

Hogg, the former vice chairman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), repeatedly labeled comments by Vice President J.D. Vance and others in the Trump administration as “dangerous.” Officials confirmed that ICE agents shot Goode in Minneapolis, claiming self-defense. On the day of the incident, a representative from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated that Goode was allegedly trying to run over law enforcement officers, prompting agents to fire in fear for their safety. This sentiment was echoed by DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, who linked Goode’s actions to “domestic terrorism.”

“I think it’s incredibly dangerous to label someone without thorough investigation,” Hogg told co-host Eugene Daniels. “Before her body was even cold, they were branding her as a domestic terrorist. We really need to pause and agree that an investigation is warranted before the government makes such declarations.”

Hogg referred to Vance as an “unscrupulous tyrant” for making claims about Goode being a domestic terrorist. He suggested that if someone were to take on a vice presidential role, it would be reasonable to ask for substantial evidence rather than relying solely on social media.

“It’s really alarming for someone like Vance to rush to judgment before an inquiry is underway. He’s also claimed that ICE has complete immunity, which is frankly absurd,” Hogg remarked.

Hogg also criticized Vance’s background, pointing out that he attended Yale and should know better than to spread what he sees as propaganda. Vance defended his comments at a press conference, asserting that Goode attempted to run someone over and that the narrative portrayed by the media was misleading.

A video released by Alpha News purportedly shows the moments leading up to the shooting from the view of an ICE officer. It depicts Goode’s wife, Rebecca, urging investigators to approach and encouraging Goode to drive towards them before the incident occurred.

Recently, Hogg stirred controversy when he announced plans through his organization, Leaders We Deserve, to challenge some incumbent House Democrats. He faced termination from his DNC vice chair position after only four months.
