Support for Mayor Adams

Former New York Governor David Patterson has expressed his backing for the current New York Mayor, Eric Adams, as he seeks reelection.

On Tuesday, Democrats announced their endorsement, stating, “We recommend Mayor Eric Adams for reelection at 1 a.m. on the city hall steps,” which was mentioned on a radio show.

Adams, who has been in office since 2022, made headlines earlier in the year. While he remained with the Democratic Party, he opted to bypass the Democratic primary, choosing instead to run as an independent in the general election.

In a previous incident, Adams raised questions regarding Senator Zoran Mamdani, inquiring, “Where was she?” during a New York Police Department funeral.

Mamdani secured victory in the Democratic mayoral primary held in June, and describes himself as a “democratic socialist.” His campaign goals include freezing rent, speeding up public transportation, and providing universal childcare.

Meanwhile, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who trailed Mamdani in the primaries, is persisting in his mayoral run despite a clear initial defeat. He declared, “The general election is in November, and I’m in it to win.” Earlier this year, Patterson had shown support for Cuomo prior to the primaries but has now pivoted to Adams due to various issues, including Adams’ previous legal challenges.

It’s noteworthy that the lawsuit against Adams was dismissed well before Patterson made his endorsement of Cuomo.
