The rich got richer
The World Series champion Texas Rangers reached a one-year contract with David Robertson on Thursday in the range of $11 million to $12 million. According to ESPN's Jeff Passan.
Completion of the transaction was pending physical formalities.
The 38-year-old Robertson, who played for the Yankees and Mets, has a 63-42 record with a 2.90 ERA with 175 saves over his 15-year career.
Last season, the Mets traded the veteran relief pitcher to the Miami Marlins after it became clear in July that their playoff hopes were over.
Prior to the trade, Robertson played in 40 games for the Mets as the team's closer in place of the injured Edwin Diaz, posting a 4-2 record with a 2.05 ERA and 14 saves.
However, Robertson struggled during his short tenure with the Marlins.
In 14 games with Miami, Robertson went 2-4 with a 5.06 ERA and just four saves, and was demoted from the closer role.
During the Mets-Marlins meeting in September, Robertson told the Post's Mike Puma that he was willing to return as a pitcher at Citi Field if the opportunity presented itself.

“If the opportunity is right and everything goes in my favor, I'll probably take it, but if it's not, I'm not going to take it,” he said.
That wasn't the intention, and Robertson, who was a key part of the Yankees' 2009 World Series team, will be looking to help the Rangers win back-to-back championships.
