College Football Highlights: Tulsa vs. Navy

This Saturday’s college football lineup features some fierce SEC matchups that are sure to hype fans. But, interestingly, there are also some remarkable plays occurring elsewhere.

In an intriguing game, Tulsa faced off against Navy, and one of the highlights came in an unusual manner—a touchdown that seemed almost improvised.

With less than two minutes remaining in the first quarter, the game was even at seven. Tulsa found themselves right at the opponent’s 10-yard line.

Quarterback Baylor Hayes attempted a backwards pass to wide receiver Oran Singleton Jr., who was immediately pressured and tackled about seven yards behind the line of scrimmage. Nonetheless, he managed to evade one tackle and, in a moment of desperation, floated a pass into heavy coverage. But here’s where it gets interesting.

David Wells Jr., not to be confused with the former MLB pitcher, managed to tip the pass backward into the air—catching it just outside of the end zone before rushing back in for a touchdown.

Singleton later added to Tulsa’s score by catching a touchdown himself, extending their lead to 26-14 early in the second half.

As for Navy, it’s been quite a challenging season. Just last year, they were nationally ranked and clinched the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy by defeating both Air Force and Army. They also wrapped up the year with an impressive 11-2 record after winning the Liberty Bowl.

However, as they entered Saturday’s match, Navy had already faced more defeats this season than they had all of last year.

On the other hand, Tulsa is showing signs of improvement, currently sitting at 3-2 after experiencing a disappointing 4-8 season last year.
