Dax Shepard has finally denied rumors that he and wife Kristen Bell are in a swinger relationship.
“There was this most exciting tabloid story about us being Hollywood swingers and hosting swinging parties,” the “Armchair Expert” podcast host said. she said on Monday's episode of “The Drew Barrymore Show.”
Shepherd, 49, joked that her “best part” is getting text messages from other celebrities about the rumors.
“We got a lot of messages from other friends saying, 'Why didn't you invite us to a swingers party?'” he said, laughing. “Of course they were teasing us, because they know us and they know we don't host swingers parties.”
The “Parenthood” star chuckled as he recalled a “funny” message from Jimmy Kimmel: “Molly [McNearney] And I wasn't invited to the swingers' parties.”
Drew Barrymore then asked Shepherd if there was any other couple that he and Bell, 44, “fantasize about.”
“Well, there are a lot of attractive couples out there, but no, we've never crossed that line with anyone,” he clarified.
That being said, the actor revealed that the people he and his wife “love the most are Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen.”
“They're such a dream couple. I just want to be a part of their marriage. It's not like Kristen wants to take me or I want to take her or anything like that. I just want to be a part of their marriage,” he explained.
Shepherd and Bell, who married in 2013 and have two daughters together, have previously spoken out about the swapping allegations and speculated they may have started when she invited a guest to spend the night at her home after a party.
“I'll be at a dinner party or something, and I'll sit down and I'll be like, 'Guys, leave your keys here!' Like it's a joke,” the Veronica Mars star said during an August 2023 episode of Armchair Expert.
The “CHiPs” star admitted his own sense of humor may have contributed to the confusion, as he has jokingly told past podcast guests, “Hey, if you wanna come to LA and swing by!”
