On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher responded to the “Death to America” chant at a rally in Dearborn, Michigan, last week, saying, “The left has been For some time now, he has been furious with me for talking.” As for Islam…we need to talk about it now. And it’s a big problem that people are shouting “death to America” on American soil even though “Charlottesville was really bad.”
Maher said:[T]This is a rally in Dearborn, Michigan, where many Muslims gathered and chanted “Death to America.” I feel like I’ve overcome something here. Leftists have been getting mad at me for years for talking about Islam, but I try not to talk about it as much. Because I know it will piss them off and I’m making my point. But it needs to be talked about now. You get it when you start chanting “Death to America” in America, but Charlottesville was really bad when they were chanting “Jews will not replace us.” But in the US mainland? ”
Maher later thanked Muslim Mayor Abdullah Hammoud and the Dearborn City Council for condemning the chants at the rally.
