Sabrina Ionescu will return to the NBA All-Star Bay Area this weekend, but don't expect the Liberty Star to take part in the on-court festival.
After making history at last year's All-Star Game in Indianapolis, Ionesque and Warriors star Stephen Curry have not revived their second year's three-point contest, an NBA spokesman confirms Thursday I did.
Ionescu and Curry are two of the best shooting games in their respective leagues, facing head-to-head in the epic 3-point shooting contest at the 2024 All-Star Game. Curry ultimately won the challenge with 29 points, earning Ionescu three times.
However, Ionescu wasn't seeking redemption this weekend after several attempts to expand the competition collapsed.
“We were unable to land on a plan that we had thought we would raise the bar from a special moment last year,” NBA spokesman Mike Bass said in a post and a statement shared. “We all agree not to move on and instead focus on the new All-Star Sunday format.”
Last month, Fever star Caitlyn Clark was said to have reduced his chances of participating in the NBA All-Star three-point competition.
Instead, Reagging Rookie of the Year is set to make its 3-point contest debut at WNBA All-Star this summer.
The news, first reported by Athletic, puts an end to speculation about whether a three-point contest of sex fights will happen.
Ionescu was messing around with questions about whether she would take part in another shootout as this year's event takes place in her home Bay Area.

During the opening weekend of others last month, Ionescu said he was at the NBA All-Star Weekend, but he didn't reveal details about the event's schedule.
Just like last week, Ionescu told USA Today that he would welcome the opportunity to play Curry again, but nothing had been set up yet.
