Trump Announces Transition of Pam Bondi
UPDATE 10:30 AM – President Donald Trump has shared his thoughts following the announcement of former Attorney General Pam Bondi taking on a significant new role in the private sector.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump praised Bondi as a “great American patriot and a loyal friend,” noting her “faithful service” as attorney general. He pointed to her accomplishments, citing a drop in murders to their lowest level since 1900 and what he described as a “tremendous job” in her efforts against crime.
The president added that she will be moving into a “much needed” and important position soon.
In the meantime, Todd Blanche will step in as Acting Attorney General.
10:15 AM – Bondi Removed from Position
Earlier, President Trump made the decision to remove Pam Bondi from her attorney general role, considering various candidates for her successor.
Although he has consistently expressed fondness for Bondi, this removal might indicate some dissatisfaction with her performance regarding certain cases in the Department of Justice (DOJ). However, it’s possible she could be offered another role within his team.
White House sources suggest that Trump has been unhappy with the lack of progress in criminal investigations of his political opponents since Bondi took charge. Since February 2025, several investigations have launched under her leadership, yet many have failed to yield successful outcomes.
A federal grand jury dismissed the DOJ’s inquiry into New York Attorney General Letitia James for alleged home insurance fraud, and a federal judge rejected indictments against former FBI Director James Comey last year.
Moreover, investigations involving figures such as Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell and several congressional Democrats have not resulted in charges so far.
Recently, Trump also appointed Markwayne Mullin as the new Department of Homeland Security secretary, following Kristi Noem’s removal. However, he has designated her for a newly created role: Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas.
This story is still developing, and updates will follow.
