Actor Michael Douglas said Wednesday on ABC’s “The View” that he is “deeply concerned” about President Joe Biden, adding that calls for him not to seek reelection are legitimate.
Co-host Joy Behar asked, “Michael, I know you’re a long-time Biden supporter, but watching the news this week has been a bit disheartening — you even hosted a fundraiser at your home in April. Do you support the calls for Biden to step down? Even Nancy Pelosi seems unsure about Biden’s removal?”
“This is a really difficult issue. I respect him. He’s a fantastic man who served in public office for 50 years. And this happens to be one of those elections that’s really important and it’s really difficult. I’m not necessarily worried about today or tomorrow, but I’m worried about a year from now. I’m worried,” Douglas said.
Actor George Clooney The New York Times “I think that’s a valid point, and I’m deeply, deeply concerned. It’s particularly difficult because the Democrats have a big cadre of senators. They have a lot of big names,” Douglas wrote in an op-ed calling for Biden to be replaced in the November election.
“The reality is simple: First of all, they should have had the president stand up, put on a little bit of makeup for the debate, tell him where to look. That would have been helpful to him,” Douglas said of the debate.
“And calling the other person a convicted felon,” co-host Sunny Hostin said.
“Instead of just dealing with his facts, you should just deal with his lies,” Douglas said.
