‘Deeply Disturbed by the Possible Assassination Attempt’ of Trump

Vice President Kamala Harris said in a statement early Monday that she was “deeply troubled by the possible assassination attempt” on former President Donald Trump.

She also said “everyone” should play their part to prevent this from leading to further violence, although the statement contained a typo: “leading to further violence.”

“I am deeply troubled by the possible assassination attempt against former President Trump today. As the facts emerge, I say it clearly: I condemn political violence. We must all do our part to ensure this does not lead to more violence.

The statement was a follow-up to an earlier post that didn't mention the assassination attempt, simply noting “reports of gunfire heard near former President Trump and his property in Florida.” She added in her earlier post that she was “glared at to hear him safe. Violence has no place in America.”

Harris' comments came after she accused him at a debate last week of saying he wanted to be a dictator from day one, and she said she was “dismayed” and “pleased he's safe.”

Harris also falsely claimed that Trump told Russian President Vladimir Putin that he was free to “invade Ukraine and do whatever he wants,” something he never said to Putin.

The suspect arrested on suspicion of assassination, Ryan Routh (58), is believed to be a passionate supporter of Ukraine and had reportedly travelled to the country to fight.

According to Reuters, Routh said: Newsweek Romania In June 2022, he said he had tried to join the fight against Russia in Ukraine but was not accepted, which led him to recruit others.

“If the government won't send in formal troops, then we as civilians have to carry the torch and make this happen. We've got some great people here, but it's only a fraction of the number that should be here,” Rouse said. saidAccording to Reuters.
