Since last year, UConn has defeated its opponents in the NCAA Tournament by an average of 22 points.
The ninth-seeded Wildcats didn’t have any advantage, shooting 25.8 percent from the floor (0-of-6 from deep). The Huskies more than doubled that number in his first 20 minutes. Despite making only 2 of 11 from three, he made 14 of 19 from inside the perimeter. In total, it was 53.3% in the first half.
UW’s lead eventually grew to 30 points, but the Wildcats still had a little life in them, cutting the lead to 16 points with 5:25 left. Despite Northwestern’s efforts, Collegiate Con was able to hold off a second-half rally.

Tristen Newton led the way with 20 points and 10 assists, while Donovan Clingan led the way with 14 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists. Cam Spencer also added 11 points.
Of course, head coach Dan Hurley said he hopes to keep winning by such a large margin.
“But it’s tough…” he admits. But “some guys had 14, 14, 8, and point guards had 20 and 10. When you have that level of quality, it’s hard to lose.”
