Sports played a huge role in my life growing up in Keyport, New Jersey. Naturally, I became a huge fan of the New York Yankees, Giants, and Knicks. Every year, I wished one of my teams the best shot and dreamed that they would win the championship. At the end of every season, my friends and I would turn to the draft or free agency and eagerly discuss acquiring new players. It's so exciting to see how “fantasy” sports evolve into their own sport.
When drafting sports teams, the focus has always been on improving the current roster. Who will be the fastest, strongest, and most durable? Who can increase the team's chances of winning? I've heard that people are looking for the most diverse players to promote fairness. I have never heard of it and I still haven't heard of it. The goal of a sports team is to win.
Unless we abandon mandatory DEI policies in government, military, and business, our entire economy and national security will become a joke.
Thomas Jefferson wrote this famous phrase in the Declaration of Independence: “All men are created equal, endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, among which are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
What a powerful message! It is the foundation of our society and government. We also know that those are the ideals we aspire to, and that not everyone is treated equally in this country or around the world. Since time immemorial, people have restricted the freedom of others. Today, millions of people around the world remain trapped in slavery and do not enjoy the freedoms of religion, speech, and movement that we as Americans take for granted.
Even if humanity has despised freedom, the universal truth of freedom remains intact, and I must continue to fight every day for its ideal form.
However, equality of opportunity does not mean that we all have the same ability or that we all need to achieve the same results. Just as sports teams scout new talent, not everyone can dunk a basketball, hit a home run, invent a life-saving drug, run a business, or lead a country. .
We all have an inner urge to compete, succeed and win, but not always in the same way or with the same results. Consider some of the great success stories of the last century: Steve Jobs, Henry Ford, Sam Walton, Madam CJ Walker, Oprah Winfrey, and Bill Gates. They were all highly motivated, willing to make mistakes, competitive, and had a deep understanding of what people wanted. They were also more intellectually gifted than many of their peers.
Instead of forcing all people to be equal in drive and intelligence or imposing redistributive government policies, the Founding Fathers gave these talented and motivated individuals the freedom to succeed. fought for. As a result, this country is much better for everyone. The United States is undoubtedly the world leader in technology, medicine, food production, and military power.
Over the past 35 years, I've hired hundreds of the best and brightest people who understand what we're trying to accomplish.
The main danger of diversity, equity, and inclusion programs is that they impose a new kind of slavery, shackling the best and brightest in chains to the lowest common denominator. This approach benefits no one.
Do passengers want the most diverse pilots or the best pilots? Do cancer patients want the most diverse doctors or the best doctors? The baseball team wins Do they do it because they have the most diverse players or because they have the best players?
Everyone should be held to the same rules and minimum standards and given the opportunity to compete in all jobs. But DEI quotas at every level are wrong, anti-American, and contribute to failure.
And for those of you who truly believe in DEI, please stop the hypocrisy. We demand that products produced with slave labor in communist China and other repressive regimes be immediately banned in the United States. Demand that all sports teams immediately reflect the proportion of Americans' skin color. That would be something to watch in the NFL, NBA, and Major League Baseball. In fact, no one would watch it because it would be a joke.
Unless we abandon coercive DEI policies in government, military, and business, our entire economy and national security will become a joke as well.
Finish DEI. Let freedom and human ingenuity be unleashed. This will ensure that America's greatness will never be in doubt.
