Deion Sanders Supports His Sons as Training Camp Begins
Not everyone can say their dad was there on their first day of work. But, that’s the case for some lucky kids out there, especially when their father is “Coach Prime,” Deion Sanders. Now the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, he’s no longer required to coach his two sons, but he still lends his support as they kick off training camp.
Shadur Sanders is gearing up for a quarterback competition with the Cleveland Browns, while Shilo Sanders aims to make the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ roster. It’s a big moment for both.
A recent clip shared by the Buccaneers features Deion chatting with the team’s head coach, Todd Bowles. In a playful Instagram post, Deion mentioned how he had to come to Tampa to see Shilo.
When asked about Deion’s presence during practice, Bowles said it was just a “normal day.” He added, “It’s the father who comes to see his son, just like we all do.” This sentiment rings true as Deion expressed his desire to check in on his boys during training camp—although he might need to juggle visits since Shilo’s is wrapping up while Shadur will be practicing in Cleveland.
Deion has been dealing with a mysterious illness that’s kept him from the Colorado team this offseason. However, at the recent Big XII Media Day, he assured everyone that he plans to return soon, saying, “I’m back now. I’m here for today. I’m dealing with the responsibility.” There seems to be a lot of anticipation building as he looks forward to reconnecting with the players he hasn’t seen in a bit.
Shadur was drafted in the fifth round by the Browns amidst plenty of discussion about his standing in the league. Meanwhile, Shilo, who went undrafted, is attempting to secure a spot in a competitive Buccaneers roster. Even though he is more suited for safety, he has a tough road ahead competing with well-established players for a chance at playing time.
As for the Buccaneers, they’re coming off a recent NFC South title, marking their fourth consecutive year as champs in this category. Last season, they achieved a 10-7 record but faced a frustrating end in the playoffs against the Washington Commander during the wild card round.
