Colorado State coach Deion Sanders told reporters on Tuesday that reports about the school's cheer song and his son Shedul Sanders' theme song were “ridiculous.”
The report Denver Sports Outlets 104.3 THE FAN Colorado State's football coach reportedly told the school's band to stop playing his son, Buffaloes quarterback Shedul Sanders' song “Perfect Timing,” so that the quarterback's song could be played over the stadium sound system after Sanders scored a point.
Deion Sanders denied the reports, and the school released a statement denying the reports.
“Anyone reporting that I told the band not to play the anthem is stupid, and you know that,” Sanders told reporters before opening the Q&A session. “Check the facts before you run a false report.”
Sanders seemed perplexed that the band had become embroiled in the drama surrounding the football program.
“A lot of times in life, we believe the first story we hear, and we shouldn't believe it,” Sanders said. “I would ask people to be more responsible in their reporting. I didn't want to get personal, so when it gets personal, you have to really think twice. I want you to understand that I have a big platform, and if I wanted to, I could get really personal, but I choose not to, because it's not right. Some things in life just aren't right.
“We were raised to love our neighbors as best we could.”

In a statement denying the report by 104.3 THE FAN, the University of Colorado said the school's songs, “Glory, Glory, Colorado” and “Fight CU” were played “every time the Buffaloes scored a point against North Dakota State during the season opener on Aug. 29.”
The Associated Press reported that other songs were played briefly before the band began playing during the 31-26 victory.
“It is common practice in college football to play brief snippets of players' personal music during games,” the university's statement read.
The Buffaloes are off to a tough start on the season with a loss to Nebraska on Saturday, dropping them to 1-1.
They'll play on the road against Colorado State on Saturday night.
