Deion Sanders has ‘very strong interest’ in Raiders job

Deion Sanders may be looking to make the jump to the NFL.

The team has requested interviews with at least six candidates, including former Jets head coach Robert Saleh, Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and former Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll.

Earlier this week, Sanders revealed what it would take to leave Boulder for an NFL head coaching job.

“The only way I can think of is to coach my sons,” Sanders said Wednesday on “GMA3,” emphasizing the plural of “sons.”

Buffaloes quarterback Shedule Sanders is projected to be one of the top picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, but his younger brother, safety Shiloh Sanders, has been less on the radar of teams.

Sanders has led a strong turnaround in Colorado since taking office two years ago, taking the Buffaloes from 1-10 in 2022 to 4-8 in 2023, his first year on the job, to 4-8 in 2023, The season ended with a record of 9 wins and 4 losses.

The Raiders, who went 4-13 in 2024, are looking for a new leader on the sideline as they enter an era with Tom Brady as a minority owner.

The future Hall of Fame quarterback will reportedly have a “tremendous” influence on the Raiders' next head coach.

The Raiders haven't won in the playoffs since 2003 and have made it to the playoffs just twice in the last 21 years.

During the same “GMA3” appearance, Sanders expressed his love for the university despite NFL rumors surrounding the football legend.

“I love Colorado. Now I love the Buffaloes. I love everything we're building,” he said. “I love everything we do and I love Boulder, Colorado. I do.”
