Deion Sanders receives around five death threats daily, according to his bodyguard.

According to a report, Deion Sanders’ bodyguard revealed that the NFL legend faces around five death threats daily. This information was shared by Sanders’ eldest son, Dion Jr., on a Friday post. Bodyguard Michael Rose advised Sanders’ coach at the University of Colorado to be cautious about who is allowed into the team facility.

Rose identified himself as Coach Prime’s head of security, emphasizing the need for vigilance, especially regarding individuals approaching the elevator. He warned newcomers to the facility: “Be careful of who’s around you as you enter; not everyone has good intentions. Don’t let anyone pressure you into scanning—it’s crucial to stay alert.”

Addressing the issue of threats, Sanders attributed the continuous danger to his race. “We constantly receive death threats,” he remarked, explaining, “Why? Because I’m a black man making things happen.” Rose confirmed, stating he receives approximately five threats each day.

Concerns for Sanders’ safety have grown over the past year. Just last June, it was reported he was missing due to an undisclosed illness. In July, Sanders disclosed that he was diagnosed with a serious form of bladder cancer, which involved surgeries to reconstruct part of his intestine to serve a new bladder function. Post-surgery, he had a portable bathroom set up during games to accommodate his frequent needs.

In an October press conference, Sanders discussed his ongoing health battles, implying he had issues with blood clots, causing him significant discomfort. “It’s honestly pretty painful,” he added, expressing confusion over his condition as he faced challenges with circulation in his leg.

In 2021, he underwent amputations on two toes due to blood clot complications while he was coaching at Jackson State University. The struggles continued in 2023 when he had to miss Pac-12 Media Day for surgery regarding a blood clot in his right foot and to address a toe issue on his left.

“When it’s time for surgery, I just plan on getting some of the best sleep until it starts,” Sanders shared, adding with a touch of humor about never having used drugs or alcohol, “But I’m always on time when it’s surgery.”
