Deion Sanders said he would tell NFL teams son Shedeur Sanders won’t play for them if it’s not the right fit

It looks like the Eli Manning situation could happen again in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Before the 2004 draft, Manning infamously told the San Diego Chargers that he would not play due to concerns about the direction of the organization.

Manning's father, Archie, had a say in the dilemma for the Chargers, who agreed to trade the Ole Miss product to the New York Giants.

It worked out well for Manning, who won two Super Bowls with the Giants before retiring.

2025 NFL Draft No. 1 pick odds: Travis Hunter closes in on Shedule Sanders

Shedeur and Hunter are projected to be first-round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.

So what exactly does Dion want from an NFL organization for his son and Hunter?

“I'm not going to give you territory. I'm going to make you understand,” he said. “Someone who can handle the quarterback that he is. Someone who can handle his ability. Someone who has had success with quarterbacks in the past or is part of an organization that understands what they're doing. It just brings you into the fold.” Don't just throw your team to the wolves if you don't have the infrastructure support.

“forget it [offensive] line. He played on a line that wasn't great, but he was able to do his job. But it's just the infrastructure of the team and the direction we're going. He can handle anything. ”

Dion also spoke about his son's love of soccer.

“One of the things that sets Schedul apart from a lot of other quarterbacks is that Schedul started every game in high school and all but one game in college, and that's the type of guy he is,” he said. . “He has a real talent and it comes from God. And he loves this game of football. Sometimes you see him doing stunts like his father, but that's just who he is. is.”

“This kid loves the game and has an insatiable desire to win. I'm hoping someone can push him to the next level.”
