Deion Sanders Says ‘Envious’ Sports Reporters Criticize Athletes Because They Make More Money

Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders slammed sports reporters on Tuesday, claiming their negative coverage is the result of reporters' “jealousy” and “envy” over the amount of money players are making on NIL contracts.

Sanders pivoted to a question about his relationship with wide receiver Travis Hunter Jr., instead of focusing on Hunter. launch Fox News reported it as an attack on a reporter.

Coach Prime responded, “When I say I love these kids dearly, I really mean it.”

He went on to talk about how he helps his players “win at life”, adding: “Some of them will definitely go professional. Football has changed and I just want to equip them with the tools to win in life.”

But then he turned the tables and took aim squarely at the sports media.

“The football landscape has changed. Back in the day, you didn't go after college players. Now they make more money than you do. Some of you get jealous and envious, so you go after them,” Sanders said. “You didn't interfere because college players were amateurs. Remember? Now you go after them directly. Any way you want: 'They make more money than me. I'm upset about that. I'm upset about that.'”

He further argued that young players can be deeply affected by “vilification” in the media.

“Attack, attack, attack. They're sensitive. They've never been attacked. They haven't gone through what grown men go through, what I've been going through with you guys for years. So that's the reality,” Sanders yelled.

“I know you guys do your job and have to do it, but your job is not 'offense.' If they don't play well, that's fine, but let's keep what's personal personal, because if we start flipping the script against you, you're not going to like it,” he concluded.

This is what Director Sanders said, Malicious comments We talk about our players on social media.

The Buffaloes will face Baylor University on Saturday in their first conference game of the season.
