Deion Sanders recently shared a moment with the self-proclaimed “Best Rapper Alive,” Lil Wayne, during a challenging time for his health.
On Friday, Sanders posted a video on Instagram featuring Lil Wayne’s visit to his Texas home, showcasing a different side of the Colorado coach amidst his health struggles.
In the clip, which is fairly brief, both Sanders and Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter Jr., walked together while a rap song with Sanders’ vocals played in the background.
“Thanks for coming through, my brother @liltunechi, and for checking in, @liltwist,” Sanders wrote in his post, adding, “Everyone loves men!”
The video, narrated by Sanders’ son, Deion Sanders Jr., extends to eight minutes and captures the duo chatting about snakes, with Lil Wayne expressing curiosity about finding them in the woods.
Normally, Sanders is a prominent figure in the news, but he has been less visible lately as he faces an unspecified health issue, particularly with the upcoming college football season on the horizon.
He was unable to attend a Colorado soccer camp in June and gave a keynote address for a symposium focused on Kamako Cell Disease Research.
In a conversation with former NFL cornerback Asante Samuel, Sanders mentioned in May, “What I’m dealing with now is a whole other level,” noting he had lost 14 pounds and felt a lack of energy.
He gave an encouraging update with a post on X on June 11, expressing his eagerness to return to Colorado to reconnect with his staff and team. “When I get back to Boulder, everything will be updated,” he stated.
About a week ago, Sanders shared another positive message on Instagram, reflecting on steps taken with his son, saying, “A little step to take, my son @deionsandersjr was there so we decided to keep stepping on!”
In recent years, the Colorado coach has faced various health challenges, including a surgery in 2023 to address a blood clot in his left leg.
The Buffaloes are set to kick off their season at home against Georgia Tech on August 29, 2025.
