Deion Sanders Would Take the Cowboys Job…On One Condition

Rumors are abuzz in the football world with speculation that Deion Sanders of the Colorado Buffaloes will be hired as the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

Of course, Sanders became the talk of college football when he took over as head coach at the University of Colorado in 2023 and was hailed as “Coach Prime.” He remains a well-known figure in sports media.

Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy appears to be nearing the end of his tenure at Texas, leading to speculation that he may be fired soon. So who will replace McCarthy? Some suspect it is Mr. Sanders.

Former Cowboy and Hall of Famer Michael Irvin is one of the loudest doubters about that possibility. sports news.

Irvin recently told Colin Cowherd that he heard from a “great source” that Sanders would “100 percent” accept the Dallas job, conditional.

That condition? Dallas would have to agree to draft Sanders' son, Shedur.

However, as Sporting News points out, this could be a bit of a problem since the Cowboys won't be able to acquire enough 2025 NFL Draft prospects early enough to ensure they take Shedul. By the time the Cowboys step up to bat with the No. 9 overall pick, someone will already be calling his name, as Shedour is expected to be among the quarterbacks selected early in next year's draft. It seems to be there.

Irvin isn't the only one speculating that Sanders will go to the Cowboys. Sports commentator Stephen A. Smith also discussed the possibility.

“For me, Prime Time Deion Sanders is Coach of the Year. I'm considering Travis Hunter as a strong candidate for the Heisman, but I'm going to take it a step further. Are you ready, Paul? I’m going to make people very uncomfortable,” Smith said recently.

“The Dallas Cowboys should play hard for the rest of the season and get the first overall pick so they can draft Shedule Sanders and, by the way, hire prime-time Deion Sanders as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. “I believe that should be Jerry Jones' master plan,” he continued.

“That's right. I said, “We're going to hire prime-time Deion Sanders. We need to fight through the season to make sure we get his son as quarterback. Okay, let's move in that direction.'' please.”

But despite all the tongue-lashing, Sanders said He had no interest in leaving Colorado and claimed he was “happy with where he is.”
